Elizabeth Kratochvil is an eighteen year old entrepreneur. Her studio is located on her family farm, which has been in her family for six generations. Elizabeth has grown up helping her parents at the local farmer’s market, and when she was 10 years old ,she taught herself to make beaded earrings, that she began selling at her family’s market booth. She became interested in making leather earrings, and when a neighbor showed her the basics of leather crafting, she was immediately hooked.

Elizabeth loved all the design possibilities that leather working offered, and quickly
moved from making leather earrings to designing a wide variety of unique leather goods. One of
her signature designs is the Deluxe Opal Tote, which she named after her Great-Grandmother
Charlene, because the tote is strong, beautiful, and fashionable, just like her grandma! Besides
totes, Elizabeth also creates journal covers, executive portfolios, several different styles of card
holder wallets, crossbody purses, clutches, and of course, leather earrings.

Even though Elizabeth is just a teen, she designed the layout for her leather studio, and
earned the money to purchase the materials for her father and grandfather to build it. At 400
square feet, her studio provides ample space for her to do her leatherwork. Her favorite feature
is the huge rolling “cutting table” that her father designed for her to store and cut out large pieces
of leather on. Her newest leather creations are beautifully displayed on the custom built shelving
that lines the teal colored walls.

Elizabeth’s leatherwork has been featured in several local newspaper articles, and most
recently, her work has been the focus of a full length story featured in the online magazine Next
Door Publications
. Looking to the future, Elizabeth says that she plans on continuing to expand
her leather working business and to continue to design and create beautiful and unique leather
goods.
