Donita Winters – New Artist 2024

Gourds and Stained Glass

508 Harding Blvd.
Mountain View, Arkansas

Donita Winters & her husband moved to Mountain View in 2013 from Kansas after retiring. Donita retired from Hutchinson Community College after 30 years working as an Academic Advisor and International Advisor. She has always had the desire to create; quilts, woven rugs, jewelry, etc. Over the last 2 years Donita has worked with stained glass at the Ozark Folk Center Glass Shop and her Lick Fork Studio. Most recently Donita has taken an interest in Gourd Art and enjoys the challenge of working with gourds by carving, cutting, pyrography and dyeing; turning them into a piece of art. Donita uses her Lick Fork Studio, attached to the cabins carport, to create stained glass and gourd art. When not creating you can find her kayaking the waterways, hiking, camping and learning new crafts.

Donita will be joining up with neighbor Glenda Tooke at 508 Harding Blvd. for the tour where she will be demonstrating burning, carving and dyeing gourds.
