Artist’s statement-Harry Branton

I was taught art while still in elementary school by the High School Art teacher. I went on to be a Painting Major at LSU in Baton Rouge. I toured some major art museums in Europe in 1972. I worked as a draftsman for a brief time in Florida before returning to the family farm in Mississippi where I practiced painting while Farming row crops for 42 years. Having semi-retired in 2018 I now have more time for my hobbies, art and music as I am self-taught on several instruments. My wife and I moved to Mountain View in 2019 and I formed my first working studio by closing in part of our garage. I love painting the Ozark landscapes, old barns and vehicles.

Directions to my studio- Go west from Stone Co Courthouse on HWY 66 to the Catholic Church. Turn left on Harding Blvd and follow it left then downhill across the bridge and up again. 503 Harding Blvd is at the top of the hill on the left, grey and white house. 8 minutes from downtown.
