The 25th annual Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour features the private working studios of professional artists located within a 30 mile radius of the Historic Stone County Courthouse Square in Mountain View, Arkansas.  The Tour offers a glimpse inside the studios of potters, fine artists, jewelers, painters and more. The tour was created 25 years ago by a group of working artists and community patrons with shared purpose and vision: to showcase the studios of fine and functional artists in our community.   

The goal of the Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour is to provide a premier cultural adventure for art lovers and collectors by offering fine work for acquisition while providing an interactive educational experience in working studios, and providing social, cultural and economic development connections between the artists and their communities.

Background

The tour was born out of long discussions with artists and crafts makers in our rural area about how to bring our art into the broader art community. In doing shows outside our community many of us were asked how it was done – how do we do it. Inviting art lovers as well as other interested folks into our studios see us making the pottery, the jewelry, the woodworking increased their interest in the products we make. We have added artists throughout the years but we have maintained our original standards.

Our mission is to showcase and increase awareness and appreciation of the Arkansas Ozarks’ finest professional artists, as well as rural cultural institutions that are “off the beaten path,
