I have been involved in and played around with the arts most of my life, as a graphic designer and illustrator for several different magazines since the 70’s. I have explored several mediums, but it wasn’t until 2009 when physical setbacks helped push me towards a more deliberate and concentrated effort to develop my skills working primarily with pastels.
I am for the most part a self taught artist. In 2010 I was recognized by “The Artist” magazine as runner up in the annual artists competition. Since then I have received numerous local awards as well as international awards for my work and have received two state arts grants to help me pursue my passion.
I have also taught my craft through numerous art centers throughout southeast Minnesota. I recently moved to Mountain View, Arkansas, where I had visited for a short time back in the 1970’s and returned as was my plan for retirement. My studio has just been set up this spring and am looking forward to pursuing new subjects and working more with the gouache medium as well. My subject matter ranges from wildlife to landscape and portraits. My style can be tight and realistic to loose impressionists.
